Now

A page inspired by NowNowNow, the brainchild of Derek Sivers. A repository of sorts of the things that move, inspire, and motivate me right now. A snapshot of my current interests, projects, and thoughts.

Projects

I am currently working on a few projects, some of which are close to my heart, others are just for fun, and some are a mix of both.

All the way on top, of course, Camino Now. A companion app for the Camino de Santiago, built with Flutter. It's in beta, fed by 80 (2x40) boots on the ground, and probably the project that'll occupy me for months, if not years, to come.

The "Long Night of Science" ("Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften") was my baby for close to 12 years, now, having held the first one in 2010 (none in 2020 and 2021, for the obvious reasons). An evening of fun, science, talks, pub quiz, giveaways, everything that is needed to encourage the next generation of scientists, engineers, and thinkers. LNdW wasn't feasible in 2025, mostly due to scheduling conflicts and egos (mine included) clashing.

Activities (/current)

When I am not in Spain, Portugal, France, or Germany walking Ways of St. James to map them and document them for the app, I am at home in Bavaria. I am an active member of the Green party, support our local refugée center and welcome program, cook for the German food pantry "Die Tafeln" and try to find enough time to shoot photos, guns, and arrows. Find a place where any of that happens, and you'll probably run into me.

I practice Krav Maga twice a week.
